Name:
Kate Bott

When you started in TRIgirl: May 2007.
Why
you TRIgirl:
I actually got interested in triathlons because I had been running only 5 and 10ks and I felt like I needed a new challenge. I didn't think I could ever train to do anything more than a 10k, so I thought a triathlon would be a nice change and a new direction to take myself in (funny how now I am training to run 26.2 miles). I searched around online and came across Trigirls. After volunteering at the Powersprint and watching the amazing support and accomplishments among the Trigirls, I was hooked. You could not ask for a better group of women to train and triumph with!
Your family (or with whom do you reside?):
I'd like to take this moment to recognize my sponsor, Matthew Bott. Without him, my bike and I never would have become one.
What
do you do for work?
4 th grade teacher
The best meal you cook:
Baked ziti
What you'll be seen wearing most frequently:
Anything that I can workout in. Although my husband has banned me from wearing my biking outfit to the grocery store. I have no clue why… I find the cycling shorts quite attractive!
Favorite quote:
"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever." - Lance Armstrong
What you are reeading now?
Does Perez Hilton count? I'll admit I am between books. I gotta get back on that wagon.
Current favorite CD or IPOD download:
Anything from Dave Matthews or Jack Johnson!
Something you have accomplished in your life that
you thought you could/would have not been able
to do (not triathlon):
Running farther than 6.2 miles.
Your indulgences:
Chocolate and chips and salsa… not all at once of course. Maybe all in one day, but definitely not all in one sitting!
Goals for next season:
To complete my first marathon, finish a half iron triathlon and ride a century. I'd also like to become a faster runner… not for myself, but for Lance. I know he would like someone to keep him company on that long Boston run.
Favorite race and why:
So far, the Lady Patriot Triathlon… it was a short, low pressure race that I ended up having a blast at. What could be more fun than an all downhill bike ride and only 2 miles of running? I also loved the Ntelos 8k… even though it was cold, I kicked it out and had a PR.
