TRIgirl Training would like to acknowledge the following TRIgirl of the Month!

Name: Kathleen Martin

When you started in TRIgirl: I officially joined in Jan. 2006 (but I started triathlon training w/ Maramarc in Aug. 2002).

Why you TRIgirl:
It motivates me to maintain a healthier lifestyle and I enjoy the group camaraderie.

Your family (or with whom do you reside?):
I have two adult children, a son and a daughter, and I live with three, sometimes sweet, always hairy, cats.

What do you do for work?
I'm a lawyer, and I work at the Attorney General's Office.

The best meal you cook:
Breakfast – chocolate waffles topped with nuts, strawberries and bananas, mimosas, and coffee.

What you'll be seen wearing most frequently:
: Danskos. (If only they made a running shoe…!)

Favorite quote:
“ You have to pedal the bike yourself.” Anon.

What you are reeading now?
The last book I read was A Thousand Splendid Suns and next on my list is Rhett Butler's People.

Current favorite CD or IPOD download:
Soundtrack from Jersey Boys.

Something you have accomplished in your life that you thought you could/would have not been able to do (not triathlon):
Becoming a lawyer. In the time and place where I grew up, a girl could realistically expect to have a “legal career” only by being a legal secretary or marrying a male attorney.

Your indulgences:
Dark chocolate, champagne, Dairy Queen.

Goals for next season:
Improve my overall performance; do an Olympic distance event (probably the Patriot in Sept.); earn a participation award for my age group in the Virginia Triathlon Series sponsored by Set Up Events.

Favorite race and why:
I don't have a “favorite” because each event is memorable in its own way.
