TRIgirl Training would like to acknowledge the following TRIgirl of the Month!

Name: Jackie Rice

When you started in TRIgirl: February 2007

Why you TRIgirl:
Introduced to TRIgirl by childhood summer swim teammate Diane Schnupp. When 2 of my sisters decided to join as well, that sealed the deal. How awesome to see these women regularly when it was hard to schedule get-togethers before! And to meet so many more wonderful, supportive, fun women with similar goals..

Your family (or with whom do you reside?):
My husband Rich, son Richie (13), daughter Kaylyn (12), son Reiley (7), gerbil Mustang (free to a good home). The kids are getting into youth triathlons (but want to skip the training part!) They have also been very supportive of my tri adventure.
.

What do you do for work?
Computer Programmer/Systems Analyst at Dominion. This great company has been very flexible and allows me to work part-time.

The best meal you cook:
Grilled tuna with wasabi sauce, grilled asparagus, risotto, lemon chess pie. The kids would say pot roast, carrots and mash potatoes (ready in 1 hour thanks to the pressure cooker).

What you'll be seen wearing most frequently:
More pink than I have ever worn before in my life!

Favorite quote:
Don't have one, so will go with one by my hero Martin Luther King, Jr "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: - 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

What you are reeading now?
Just finished Life of Pi, starting Thinking About Tomorrow (Reinventing Yourself at Midlife) - gulp, am I that old?

Current favorite CD or IPOD download:
No fave right now, waiting for the next KT Tunstall album (yes, iTunes calls them albums even though my 7 year-old asked me the other day what one was) When you see me running with my iPod, it's usually Nirvana, Dave Matthews, Sheryl Crow, B-52's, ELO, Nickel Creek and lots of one-hit wonders.

Something you have accomplished in your life that you thought you could/would have not been able to do (not triathlon):
I'm not much of a risk-taker, except for things like roller coasters, sky diving, hot air ballooning - sign me up! Most everything I do, goals included, has been carefully chosen and well-planned and not really something I thought I couldn't do. If my kids grow up to be happy, healthy and without a criminal record, then I'll be thrilled with that accomplishment.

Your indulgences:
Nap, Lindt truffles (try to have both at least a few times a week!), pedicure
