| I
have been involved with the TRIgirls for
about a year now and have to say it is one
of the BEST experiences of my life!! The
support, camaraderie and encouragement is
unmatched! There is nothing like competing
in a triathlon and getting high fives in
transition from your teammates, or seeing
signs that say "Go TRIgirl" along
the course, or coming through the finish
line to the cheers and applause of your
team. One particular memory that strikes
home is when I left transition, there was
a little girl sitting on the side of the
road with her mom and when she saw me run
by in my very cool TRIgirl Trisuit, she
said "Look Mommy! She's my favorite!"
The TRIgirl Team has inspired many women
and young girls including our daughter,
Kyle, who just completed her first Triathlon
yesterday at the Riverside ACAC Sprint Tri!!
At 14 she has completed what it took me
30+ years to do!! And, her favorite part
was running through the finish line to the
cheers and shouts of the TRIgirls! So, for
what it's worth, if you've ever thought
you couldn't -- you can. If you've ever
thought you can -- you will. And, if you've
ever wanted a friend to stand by you the
entire way -- TRIgirls is it.

TRIgirl
Training offers an amazing experience to
come together with like-minded women to
train for a specific goal. Many people,
myself included, find training in a group
the only way to train. It is more fun, you
perform better, and you really look forward
to workouts. The coaches are excellent at
pushing you... just enough. But watch out,
once you catch the triathlonbug, it may
be hard to stop.

I
joined TRIgirl the day it started, and it
has been a completely rewarding experience.
I had just completed my first sprint triathlon
in 2005, and since joining TRIgirl, I have
finished six more sprints and an Olympic
distance. In 2007 I am training for Ironman
Florida with the TRIgirls, something I could
not have fathomed two years ago. TRIgirl
has positively influenced my life in many
ways other than simply training for triathlon,
however. This inspiring group of women have
become much more than training partners,
and as we have trained, raced, cheered,
volunteered, laughed, cried, carboloaded,
and drunk coffee and wine together, I have
developed some of the best friendships I've
ever had.

TRIGirls
has proven to be even better than what I
had hoped. Of course there are the great
workouts – and discovering that even
slowpokes like me could benefit (and see
improvements for the first time ever!) from
learning new skills and pushing yourself
beyond your limits. But even better was
the camaraderie, support and encouragement
from Grandison and the group. TRIGirls is
not about competition or exclusivity. Though
we all strive to make gains and work toward
personal bests, the heart of the group is
about supporting and learning from each
other. Oh yeah, the weekly trips to Starbucks
after the tough Saturday brick workouts
are also fun!

A
move back to Richmond in the summer of 2006
prompted me to join the Trigirl training
group. I was immediately struck by the open
and friendly nature of the group. After
just one training session, several trigirls
made a point to welcome me. In fact, some
of them knew my name long before I had connected
all of the friendly faces to their respective
names! After completing four triathlons
this year as a trigirl, I am completely
hooked. With our distinctive pink ensembles,
we receive plenty of support while training
and racing. I am continually impressed by
the diverse, yet supportive nature of the
group. In a few short months, I have gained
in both fitness and friendship. Lucky me!
