Dr. Katherine Dec brings a wealth of experience to her sports medicine clinic and care of athletes. She has completed a fellowship in sports medicine, in addition to training at Beijing Medical University. She is Medical Director of Womens’ Sports Medicine at CJW Sports Medicine. She serves as one of the team physicians for Longwood University, and previously at Michigan State University. She serves as a volunteer physician with United States Olympic Committee. She has covered the Pan Am Games, World University Games, Pan Pacific Aquatic Games, World Masters Aquatic Championship, US Cycling Paralympic World Championship, USA Track & Field Championships, in addition to other international competitions and trials in NCAA and Masters level competitions. She has worked with USA Cycling, USA Track & Field, USA Gymnastics, USA Basketball, USA Paralympic Cycling, and USA Swimming and Diving. She is a previous collegiate All-American in Track and Field.

She serves on the Executive Board of American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and is published in peer-reviewed journals and texts in several areas of sports medicine.

In her work with elite, professional, collegiate and youth sports, she understands the sports medicine needs of the athlete. In her juggling of her own sports and caring for three young children, she understands the quality of time.

Jim Miller and Tuckahoe Physical Therapy, offer a variety of services in an orthopedic/sports-medicine setting. Jim has spent his entire practice focusing on orthopedic issues and has a special interest in working with endurance based athletes such as runners and cyclists. He f ran competitively for a Division I collegiate program and later picked up competitive cycling. On the bike, he initially competed in cross-country mountain bike races es an expert and later began racing on the road as well.

Given his training experience and contending with injury, he relates to the injured athlete and understands the impact injuries have on training goals. As part of this approach, Jim offers professional bike-fitting services. Included in the fit is a brief strength/flexibility screen, observation/assessment of your spin and a static bike-fit which focuses on getting you in a position to optimize power and minimize the risk of overuse injuries. Elisabeth Peterson RD is a registered dietitian, medical nutrition therapist, nutrition consultant and health educator. She graduated from Hampton University Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics after which she completed an American Dietetic Association-approved internship with the Medical College of Virginia.

Elisabeth is an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University and a dietetic advisor for magazines and author of articles on nutrition. She works individually in her private practice Peterson Nutrition and Fitness , emphasizing an approach that empowers her clientele to form a healthy relationship with food and their minds and bodies which will in turn help them achieve their wellness goals. Elisabeth’s counseling addresses the nutritional and general wellness needs of people of all ages. She also provides instruction in sports nutrition, healthy weight maintenance (therapeutically supporting all types of eating disorders), high risk pregnancy and disease states including diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, food allergies and celiac sprue.

Elisabeth is a member of the American Dietetic Association and its affiliated Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutritionist, Behavioral Health Nutrition as well as the Women’s Health and Reproductive Nutrition dietetic practice groups. She is a member of the American Diabetes Association , the American Association of Diabetes Educators , the National Eating Disorders Association , the Academy for Eating Disorders and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America , by which she has been certified as a personal trainer and fitness counselor.

She enjoys spending time with her family, cycling, swimming, kayaking, boating, fishing and generally being outside and active.
